"Slovak choir Adoremus was founded in the year 1992 as an all-Slovak vocal subject oriented to sacral music. Adoremus is a civic subject oriented to spread Christian music and to help to its aggrandizing.
"From its foundation, Adoremus was successfully presented on many international festivals of sacral music, in the most of the Slovak cities as well as in foreign countries – Czech republic, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Poland. Adoremus cooperated with Slovak television, Slovak broadcast, radio Vatikan, radio Lumen, with Slovak Philharmony Kosice and with many artists and music composers."

Those blessed with Multiple Myeloma might have reason to celebrate the discovery of JQ1, a molecule that can make cancer cells forget they're cancer cells, and turn into normal cells. This talk by Dr. Jay Bradner of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston to TED Boston is a must see for anyone inflicted with cancer of any kind. Perhaps the most important thing about this scientific discovery is that it was not kept a secret or patented, which would have tremendously slowed the delivery of this possible life saving molecule.
From The TED website about the above video: "How does cancer know it's cancer? At Jay Bradner's lab, they found a molecule that might hold the answer, JQ1 -- and instead of patenting JQ1, they published their findings and mailed samples to 40 other labs to work on. An inspiring look at the open-source future of medical research."
(Please share this with everyone you know who is blessed with cancer: blessed in the sense that God has given them the chance to prepare for their next life.)
Bill Whittle of PJMedia is exercised over the misuse by Congress (and now by Obama) of the General Welfare and Commerce Clauses of our Constitution, and their utter disregard for "We the People."
Victor Davis Hanson, writing today at National Review Online:
So what happened to the global-warming craze?
Corruption within the climate-change industry explains some of the sudden turnoff. “Climategate” — the unauthorized 2009 release of private e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit in the United Kingdom — revealed that many of the world’s top climate scientists were knee-deep in manipulating scientific evidence to support preconceived conclusions and personal agendas. Shrill warnings about everything from melting Himalayan glaciers to shrinking polar-bear populations turned out not always to be supported by scientific facts.
Of course, it didn’t help that the world’s most prominent green spokesman, Nobel laureate Al Gore, made tens of millions of dollars from his own advocacy. And he adopted a lifestyle of jet travel and energy-hungry homes at odds with his pleas for everyone else to cut back.
Over the last half-century, Americans have agreed that smoky plants and polluting industries needed to be cleaned up. But when the green movement began to classify clean-burning heat as a pollutant, it began to lose the cash-strapped public.
While the Obama administration was subsidizing failed or inefficient green industries, radical breakthroughs in domestic fossil-fuel exploration and recovery — especially horizontal drilling and fracking — have vastly increased the known American reserves of gas and oil. Modern efficient engines have meant that both can be consumed with little, if any, pollution — at a time when a struggling U.S. economy is paying nearly half-a-trillion dollars for imported fossil fuels. The public apparently would prefer developing more of our own gas, oil, shale, tar sands, and coal as an alternative to going broke by either importing more fuels from abroad or subsidizing more inefficient windmills and solar panels at home.
I’d like to introduce President Obama to the Ronald Reagan he isn’t so eager to quote – the man who said, “Since when do we in America believe that our society is made up of two diametrically opposed classes – one rich, one poor – both in a permanent state of conflict and neither able to get ahead except at the expense of the other? Since when do we in America accept this alien and discredited theory of social and class warfare? Since when do we in America endorse the politics of envy and division?”
President Reagan was absolutely right. Instead of policies that make it harder for Americans to rise, let’s lower the hurdles to upward mobility.
That’s what the American Idea is all about. You know, in the midst of all the joys and sorrows of our everyday lives, I think we sometimes forget why America was considered such an exceptional nation at its Founding, and why it remains so.
To me, the results of the Founders’ exceptional vision can be summed up in a single sentence: Throughout human history, the American Idea has done more to help the poor than any other economic system ever designed.
Americans, guided by our ideals, have sacrificed everything to combat tyranny and brutal dictators; we’ve expanded opportunity, opened markets, and inspired others to resist oppression; we’ve exported innovation and imagination; and we’ve welcomed immigrants seeking a fresh start.
Here in America – unlike most places on earth – all citizens have the right to rise.

Alfonzo Rachel of PJTV didn't think much of the Anderson Cooper moderated "debate" on CNN this past week, and pulls no punches in telling us why. His thoughts on Herman Cain are right on, as are his comments on the real source of our national problems: the disintegration of the American family.
This is in no way meant to disparage The Pips, who were very talented and, by all accounts, good guys. This, though, has to be one of the funniest parodies ever made. Surely, the original Pips and Gladys Knight herself would enjoy the humor. It's also a good follow-up to yesterday's post.
Gladys Knight and The Pips recorded 21 single songs that reached the Top 20 charts in either the United States or the United Kingdom between 1961 and 1987.
"The most notable hit of their career was the #1 pop hit, "Midnight Train to Georgia", which won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals of 1973. The song eventually received the Grammy Hall Of Fame Award, which was established by the Recording Academy's National Trustees to honor recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance."
Saturday, October 22nd: for the first time, the faithful all around the world are marking the liturgical feast day of Blessed John Paul II. Here at the Vatican, a prayer vigil for the afternoon in preparation for Mass in St Peter’s Basilica celebrated by the Cardinal-Vicar of Rome, Agostino Vallini has been organized by the Rome Vicariate – and similar initiatives are planned in dioceses throughout the world. The postulator of the cause of canonization for Blessed John Paul II, mons. Slawomir Oder spoke with us about the high anticipation for this, his first liturgical memory – something the people of God have desired since the very day he died.

It is not unimaginable that if the current party remains in power they could be rounding up Catholics for imprisonment or martyrdom sometime in the near future. Please watch this episode of The Vortex and share it with as many friends and family as you can.
Very interesting article by Dr. Mark Hyman yesterday discussing food as medicine. A link is HERE.
After a lengthy discussion of what he learned about food as medicine in China, Dr. Hyman provides advice for those of us who shop for our food here in America. Here's a clip:
"Remember eat the rainbow!
Red Group (tomatoes, pink grapefruit, watermelon)
These contain the carotenoid lycopene, which helps rid the body of free radicals that damage genes. Lycopene seems to protect against prostate cancer as well as heart and lung disease. Processed juices contain a lot of the beneficial ingredients. One glass of tomato juice gives you 50 percent of the recommended lycopene.
Yellow/Green Group (spinach greens, collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, yellow corn, green peas, avocado, honeydew melon)
These are sources of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. These are believed to reduce the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Lutein is a yellow-green substance that concentrates in the back of your eye. It may also reduce atherosclerosis.
These contain alpha carotene, which protects against cancer. They also contain beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. It protects the skin against free-radical damage and helps repair damaged DNA. Beta-carotene is also good for night vision. It's important to note that these beneficial nutrients can be received from other foods, too. For instance, vitamins found in dairy products and meat. But it's not as beneficial because you get high calories and fat along with it.
Orange/Yellow Group (pineapple, orange juice, oranges, tangerines, peaches, papayas, nectarines)
These contain beta cryptothanxin, which helps cells in the body communicate and may help prevent heart disease. In addition, a single orange contains 170 percent of the recommended daily vitamin C. It's interesting to note that the skin of an orange is high in a protective fat that has been found to kill cancer cells in humans and animals, which highlights the fact that two-thirds of all drugs come from the plant world.
Red/Purple Group (beets, eggplant, purple grapes, red wine, grape juice, prunes, cranberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, red apples)
These are loaded with powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins believed to protect against heart disease by preventing blood clots. They may also delay the aging of cells in the body. There is some evidence they may help delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
Green Group (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, Chinese cabbage or bok choi, kale)
These contain the chemicals sulforaphane and isocyanate, and they also contain indoles, all of which help ward off cancer by inhibiting carcinogens. It's a fact that 10 percent of the population -- like George Bush Sr. -- doesn't like broccoli. But it is important in diets because of the beneficial chemicals it contains.
White/Green Group (leeks, scallions, garlic, onions, celery, pears, white wine, endive, chives)
The onion family contains allicin, which has anti-tumor properties. Other foods in this group contain antioxidant flavonoids like quercetin and kaempferol."
Mitch Daniels and Paul Ryan, perhaps the best spokesmen of the GOP on what needs to be done to repair the damage caused by the current administration, have declined groundswells of encouragement to become candidates. Surely, though, there will be spots for both in the next administration.
Last week we reprised Bach's Third Brandenburg Concerto and made reference to the second, which served as the theme of William F. Buckley's Firing Line show on PBS for over 30 years. Here is the second of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos performed by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
