Somebody tell those idiots tearing down statues and monuments!

If statues were erected only of the sinless, the only ones in existence would be those of Our Lord and Our Lady.

Words of Relevance: Kate Bachelder: Top 10 Liberal Superstitions

That's Kate Bachelder, assistant editorial features editor of the Wall Street Journal.

She wrote an important piece today in the Journal, in which she lists the Top 10 superstitions, or myths, of the Liberal establishment, all of which are important to remember in these final days of the 2014 campaigning.

Herewith the list, which will serve as today's quote:
(1) Spending more money improves education.
(2) Government spending stimulates the economy.
(3) Republican candidates always have a big spending advantage over Democrats.
(4) Raising the minimum wage helps the poor.
(5) Global warming is causing increasingly violent weather.
(6) Genetically modified food is dangerous.
(7) Voter ID laws suppress minority turnout.
(8) Obamacare is gaining popularity.
(9) The Keystone XL pipeline would increase oil spills.
(10) Women are paid 77 cents on the dollar compared with men.
Bachelder makes her compelling case for each of the above listed superstitions in her article, which you can read by clicking HERE.  (subscription required)

Words of Relevance: W. F. Buckley: STOP!

William Frank Buckley, Jr. (November 24, 1925 – February 27, 2008), was, for his entire adult life, the de facto leader of the American Conservative movement.  He wrote more than 50 books on various topics, and even found time to write a series of novels featuring a mythical CIA agent, Blackford Oakes.

In 1955, he founded the Conservative journal, National Review, and remained its editor-in-chief until 1990.  The magazine became, and has remained, the standard-bearer of American Conservatism.

In 1965, he ran for Mayor of New York, and when asked what he would do should he win, replied: "I would demand a recount."  His most famous quote, though, was coined at the introduction of his beloved National Review, by way of its mission statement, issued on November 19, 1955.

Here's the quote:
It stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.
Why are Buckley's words so relevant today?  Fifty-eight years later, the voters of New York City elected a man, who by all appearances is the most Left-wing radical politician (and that is by far the kindest appellation that could be used in describing him) that could be found in the city, to serve as their mayor.  God help them.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a FOOL!

Does he really think crazy people will turn in their guns - or is he dumb enough to think if guns are outlawed, outlaws won't be able to get guns?  Does he know that despite the strict laws against drugs, people who want illegal drugs have no problem getting them, and that the traffic in illegal drugs has caused more violence than any city should have to tolerate?  Apparently not.

Elizabeth Warren is No Pocahontas

Elizabeth Warren, an icon of the Far Left in Massachusetts, and therefore a media celebrity, has been caught in what we used to call a LIE.  Having been rejected by Congress to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, she declared her candidacy to unseat first-term U.S. Senator Scott Brown, a Republican-In-Name-Only.

It was shaping up to be a close race, but, unfortunately for the radical Left, the inestimable Michelle Malkin today disclosed the fact that Ms. Warren has been living a lie about her Native American heritage.  In short, she now joins Ward Churchill, fired by the University of Colorado in 2007, as being one of the most notorious faux Indians in America.

Here's the Michelle Malkin piece from Townhall.Com:

Nancy Pelosi is Delusional or a Bad Liar - or Both

The Cato Institute published this press release of Nancy Pelosi, in which she explains the reason for the rise in gasoline prices, on its Blog today.  Here's a clip:

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the rising gas prices across the country:

“Independent reports confirm that speculators are driving up the cost of oil, hurting consumers and potentially damaging the economic recovery. Wall Street profiteering, not oil shortages, is the cause of the price spike. In fact, U.S. oil production is at its highest level since 2003, and millions of acres have been cleared for additional development.

“We need to take strong action to protect consumers from this speculation. Unfortunately, Republicans have chosen to protect the interests of Wall Street speculators and oil companies instead of the interests of working Americans by obstructing the agencies with the responsibility of enforcing consumer protection laws. They have also repeatedly opposed our efforts to end billions of dollars in outdated taxpayer subsidies for oil companies enjoying record profits.

“We support efforts by the Obama Administration to expand domestic energy resources, including natural gas and renewable sources like wind and solar that create jobs in America and will end our dangerous dependence on foreign energy supplies. This can be achieved because today, the United States currently has more oil and gas rigs at work than the rest of the world combined, and imports of foreign oil have decreased.
“We call on the Republican leadership to act on behalf of American consumers and join our efforts to crack down on speculators who care more about their profits than the price at the pump even if these spikes harm the American consumer and our economy.”

Apparently this woman is unfamiliar with the Keystone Pipeline and the person stopping it.

Caroline Glick Takes Aim at The Left

Caroline Glick, using her media website, Latma, and its hilarious satirical newscast , "The Tribal Update," has taken aim at three targets: Peace Now's Executive Director Yariv Googleheimer, the Israeli Supreme Court, and Noam Shalit, father of Gilad Shalit (who spent five years in Hamas captivity in Gaza), who is running for a place on the Israel Labor Party List for the next Knesset.  How does the father of a victim of unadulterated hatred become (or stay) a Liberal?

The video is below.  Notice that the translations are now being displayed long enough to read them, which is nice for those of us who do not speak Hebrew.

Bill Press is an Embarrassment & Disgrace

Never liked this guy before; like him less now.  He's a typical Liberal who is exactly the kind of person referred to by Bishop Fulton Sheen when he said:

“Why are those who are notoriously undisciplined and unmoral also most contemptuous of religion and morality? They are trying to solace their own unhappy lives by pulling the happy down to their own abysmal depths.”

Tony Bennett is Banned!

This past Sunday, Tony Bennett was featured here with Diana Krall singing a duet. Then, he went on Howard Stern's show to promote his new album, and the above video is self-explanatory as to why his Sundays are for Beauty posting has been taken down.

He later (probably in an effort to salvage album sales) issued a typical Liberal non-apology:

The singer, who was promoting his new album "Duets II," has since posted a statement to clarify the comments he made on Stern's show, and to apologize if they were misconstrued.

"I am so grateful to be an American and as a World War II veteran, I was proud to fight to protect our values, which have made America the greatest country on the planet," the 85-year-old singer says in the statement.

"There is simply no excuse for terrorism and the murder of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims of the 9/11 attacks on our country," the statement continues. "My life experiences -ranging from the Battle of the Bulge to marching with Martin Luther King – made me a life-long humanist and pacifist, and reinforced my belief that violence begets violence and that war is the lowest form of human behavior. I am sorry if my statements suggested anything other than an expression of my love for my country, my hope for humanity and my desire for peace throughout the world."

Squishy Law Enforcement and Riots

Joyce Lee Malcolm, Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law, is one of the top experts on second amendment rights. She was not at all surprised by the recent rioting in England, and says the only thing surprising about them is that anyone was surprised. She was invited by Scott Johnson of Powerline "to write for us on recent events in England. She has graciously responded with the column-length essay “The English riots: How British law fosters disorder.” You can read Professor Malcolm's insightful essay by clicking here.
