Leaders with Ginni Thomas: Paul Ryan for President

This was posted today at the Daily Caller.

Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, articulates the contrasts between the Progressivism of the current administration and the dire need for the Conservatism of the next, better than anyone.

Sundays are for Beauty: Benediction

Pange Lingua is a hymn sung at Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the Catholic Church.  It was written by St Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274) for the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Have a Beautiful Sunday.

Japan's Earthquake: One Year Later

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami.  The death toll now stands at 15,854, with 3,271 still listed as missing.  The Japanese people have always been resilient.  They're coming back strong, and are not forgetting those who rendered assistance - especially the USA.

Obama and the Bible II

If you missed the previous post on Obama and the Bible, go HERE.

Today, a friend sent a post from the website, Wall Builders, that just had to be passed on.

The post is entitled: America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President.  You can read the whole piece by clicking on the link.  Here's how it starts:
When one observes President Obama’s unwillingness to accommodate America’s four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.
The writer, David Barton, a frequent guest on the now gone Glenn Beck show, goes on to list the numerous acts of hostility (43 of them) by Obama and his administration against Christians and the Bible, followed by (surprise!) acts of preferentialism (9 of them) for Islam.

If you were harboring the slightest doubt that Obama has been masquerading as a Christian while concealing his true religious beliefs, this David Barton piece should dispel those doubts.

Note: A link to Wall Builders is now listed on the right side of this Blog under "My Blog List."  Please share this post with anyone you know who voted for Obama in 2008.

Bill Whittle: The Battle of Big Ideas

This is Bill Whittle at his best.  Using the lessons of Thomas Sowell's great book: "A Conflict of Visions," Whittle compares and contrasts the philosophies that inspire the beliefs, and actions, of the Left with those of the Right.

Iditarod 2012: John Baker Our Pick to Repeat

John Baker, who won last year's race in record time is the first Alaska native to win the Iditarod.  It might be a sentimental pick because he's such a good guy and a great role model, but he's our pick to win the 2012 Iditarod.

Below is a route map of the trail.  You can click on each check point to see which mushers have arrived there.

A Proper Apology to Islamic Fascists and Terrorists.

This unofficial notice (slightly sanitized) arrived here today by E-Mail from a friend:

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
OFFICE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND APOLOGY (OOPCAA)
DIRECTIVE
27 February 2012
FROM: The Office of Political Correctness and Apology (OOPCAA)
TO:      All Armed Services Personnel Active and Retired (Especially Marines, SEALS, Special Forces and Airborne)
Subject:   Proper apology to Islamic Fascists and Terrorists.
In keeping with the President, the Secretary of Defense, and Commanding General of NATO in Afghanistan recent apologies to Muslim peoples for the accidental burning of Korans the following directive is issued:
BACKGROUND:   All personnel are aware that the President has established bowing before members of Islamic royalty. This is an appropriate behavior because the United States has shown these individuals disrespect by purchasing their oil and fighting their wars. It has become apparent that bowing is insufficient to show the proper supplication before the Islamic hoard, especially in light of the recent Koran burning incident. It makes no difference that the Korans were used to pass messages between terrorists. This was only because their computers and cell phones were not functioning. Nor does it make any difference that according to Sharia Law, Korans are not to be written in, and if so are to be destroyed by fire.  Furthermore it is irrelevant that last year the CO of Bagram Air Base destroyed Christian Bibles because he deemed them offensive to Muslims (after all they are?) Because of the above the following listed action(S) will be taken:
Commencing on Friday March 3 (Muslim Sabbath) at 0700 hrs all military personnel worldwide will commence a Groveling (Apology) Exercise.  Units will assemble all personnel appropriately attired in Dress Uniform (Medals and Decorations) in ranks. All ranks will face Mecca and on the preparatory command, Prepare to Grovel all ranks will advance the left foot 18 inches. On the command, Grovel, all ranks will immediately assume the position of both knees on the ground (Deck for Marines and sailors) with the forehead touching the ground. At the count of four all personnel will grovel while reciting, I am sorry. I am sorry. Please don't be mad at me. This phase will be repeated ten (10) times. Upon the completion of ten repetitions of in place Groveling, the Command, Cease Groveling will be given, the ranks will be brought back to the position of Attention, and Parade Rest for further instruction on proper treatment of the Islamo Fascists.
Officers and NCOs will ensure that Groveling is performed in a military manner similar to the Low Crawl with the buttocks in a level position facing away from Mecca (NOTE: Representatives of the Department Homeland Security will be on hand to report infractions of the Butt Rule).  Special attention will be given to those with Bronze Stars and above, since it is rightly assumed that these individuals have aggrieved more Islamo Fascists.
Special Instructions for Retired and Disabled Personnel:  Retired personnel and disabled personnel are permitted to grovel while seated in wheelchairs if no attendants are available. Personnel with Walkers are permitted to Grovel while standing with the Walker. Because of the above consideration, the above listed disabled personnel are expected to flagellate themselves with their canes while groveling.
All personnel are encouraged to reflect on their personal conduct with the Islamo Fascists over the last nine years. After all they are only trying to convert you to a better way of living your life as a Stone Age Neanderthal, and you have been trying to kill them.
If the above designated corrective action does not show positive results immediately, more drastic action such will be taken, again led by the President, Secretary of Defense, and NATO Commander.

Iditarod 2012: Zirkle in Front Nearing Nikolai

It wouldn't be too surprising if Aliy Zirkle finishes first overall, but I'll still make my pick for first-place male tomorrow.  Here's the story from the Anchorage Daily News.

Iditarod 2012: Aliy Zirkle Top Female Pick

Aliy Zirkle is my pick to be the first woman finisher in Iditarod 2012.  She was my pick last year, but didn't quite make it.  She's off to a fast start, and determined, I think, to make this her year.

You can follow the race on the website of the Anchorage Daily News.

Tomorrow: my pick of the first male finisher.

Here's the route map.  You can click on each check point for more information.

Caroline Glick: "The Story of Obama and Israel"

Caroline Glick, Israel's Iron Lady posted this on her Blog yesterday along with some background as to who made the video - and why.
A few weeks ago the Obama administration put out a video extolling Obama's record on Israel. They took excerpts from speeches by Israeli leaders praising Obama and used them as proof that Israelis view Obama is a great friend of the Jewish state.
On the whole it was an obscene production. What can Binyamin Netanyahu or any other Israeli official say other than that Obama is a great friend of Israel? We have to face the dismal fact that Obama may remain in the White House until 2017. No Israeli official can afford to say openly what they think of this man.
So, Bill Kristol, Gary Bauer and Rachel Abrams formed the Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI), which is a Super Pac authorized to run political advertisements.  Because Obama has been calling himself "Israel's greatest friend ever," ECI decided to set the record straight and tell the truth about Obama's treatment of Israel.  This video is how they chose to do it.

James Q. Wilson: A Great American Thinker, R.I.P.

One of the many contributions made by Professor James Q. Wilson (May 27, 1931 – March 2, 2012) to American society was "Broken Windows," the article he co-authored in The Atlantic Magazine in March,1982.

He was philosophically in tune with Theodore Dalrymple, the British medical doctor and writer who writes often on the topic of cultural decay.  He did more than point it out, though, he wrote of how we could reverse it - if we wanted to.

Encomiums too numerous to list here have been written in the last twenty-four hours, but this one from Professor Daniel Drezner of Tufts University is particularly good, and links to several others.

Today's Wall Street Journal published several excerpts from op-eds written by Professor Wilson over the years in that publication; they're all terrific.

Iditarod 2012 Starts Tomorrow

The 40th Running of The Last Great Race on Earth starts tomorrow at 10:00 AM AST, which is 2:00 PM EST.  You can follow the race on the official website, by clicking above, or by checking the sports section of the Anchorage Daily News any day during the race.

This is from an earlier post on Iditarod 2009:

Susan Butcher
It's impossible to talk (or even think) about The Iditarod, "The Last Great Race," without thinking of Susan Butcher. It was she who got me interested in the Iditarod, when I first heard her story in 1986. She ran in nine Iditarods before winning, and then won four out of five. She was an amazing person, and there is now a monument to her out on the trail. This video gives you a feeling for her specialness.

This Blog had its genesis when the blogger worked as a volunteer at Iditarod 2009, and was intended to interest the grandchildren in this spectacular one-of-a kind sporting event; it did.

Here's a story from the Anchorage Daily News about twins: Kristy and Anna Berington who will start tomorrow's race as the first twins to compete in the Iditarod.

And, here's a photo of the twins:
