Justice Ginsburg Disses the United States Constitution - in Egypt!

What can one say when one of nine people in the United States charged with the sacred duty of interpreting our Constitution, by determining the constitutionality of federal laws, chooses to insult that Constitution, and those who created it, in a country where most of the people have indicated a preference for living under Sharia?  Well, the gang at Trifecta: Bill Whittle, Steve Green, and Scott Ott have plenty to say about that, and their tempered restraint in stating their strong objection to the contemptible way in which the associate Justice refers to our Constitution is admirable.

"There be Dragons" - An Inspirational Movie

William Tucker published his book, Terrestrial Energy in 2008, and it hasn't garnered a lot of attention to my knowledge.  Must be a reason for that.  The video provides a good introduction to the book, which you can purchase at Amazon.com.

Caroline Glick Takes Aim at The Left

Caroline Glick, using her media website, Latma, and its hilarious satirical newscast , "The Tribal Update," has taken aim at three targets: Peace Now's Executive Director Yariv Googleheimer, the Israeli Supreme Court, and Noam Shalit, father of Gilad Shalit (who spent five years in Hamas captivity in Gaza), who is running for a place on the Israel Labor Party List for the next Knesset.  How does the father of a victim of unadulterated hatred become (or stay) a Liberal?

Vortex: Muslims Killing Christians in Nigeria

(CNSNews.com) – White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says there are no “constitutional rights issues” involved in a regulation issued by the administration that requires all health-care plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.

Because the Catholic Church holds that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong and Catholic cannot be involved in them, the regulation in combination with the Obamacare mandate that all Americans buy health insurance will force American Catholics to choose between following the federal regulation or following the teachings of their church.

“I don’t believe there are any constitutional rights issues here,” Carney said when asked at today’s White House briefing about the regulation.

“The administration believes that this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious beliefs and increasing access to important preventative services,” Carney told reporters.

On Sunday, in Catholic churches around the country, priests read letters from their local bishops declaring the law an unconstitutional attack on the religious liberty of Catholics and calling on Catholics to oppose the regulation and fight to have it rescinded.

“In so ruling, the Administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, denying to Catholics our nation’s first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty,” wrote Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted in a letter representative of those sent by many other bishops last week. “As a result, unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled either to violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so).  The Administration’s sole concession was to give our institutions one year to comply.

“We cannot—we will not—comply with this unjust law,” said Bishop Olmsted.

At one point in Tuesday’s press briefing, Carney said: “I would also just note that our robust partnerships with the Catholic Church and other communities of faith will continue.”

Oh, I wouldn't bet on that, Jay. 

Hey, Eric Holder: This is Why We Need Voter ID Laws

Of course, Holder knows this is why we need voter ID laws.  He just alleges that they discriminate against minorities.  He's partially right: they do discriminate against minorities - if they're dead.  Could there be a pattern of which party gets the most votes cast by dead people?

Clean Energy: Is it Clean & Does it Work?

John Hinderaker over at Powerlineblog.Com posted some very interesting stuff (especially for would-be investors) today from the Science and Environmental Policy Project:

Someone experienced in analyzing potential investments in innovative industries may be surprised by the lack of hard data on the performance of solar and wind in generating electricity. Certainly, it is understandable that solar and wind companies may wish to keep certain trade secrets from the public, such as manufacturing design and techniques. But if the results are as solid as the promoters claim, than one would expect the promoters would give the hard data on performance. Yet these are being withheld on the claims that such data is proprietary – confidential.

Slowly, information is leaking from nations that have spent heavily on wind and solar, such as Germany. This information should give pause to those touting solar and wind, including politicians. England is pulling back from wind, Germany has announced drastic cut-backs on its subsidies to solar, and Spain has announced the elimination of subsidies for renewable power. These actions are not the result of success. The erratic nature of these sources is well established. Further, electricity is rather unique among energy types – it cannot be stored on an affordable, commercial scale. 

Those proclaiming the virtues of wind and solar should be compelled to reveal actual output data from these sources, the required back-up, and data on the actual reduction of carbon dioxide and other emissions when alternative sources are used. 

Unfortunately, as long as solar and wind companies are getting lots of our tax money to  fund their businesses, they have all the investors (albeit, for the most part, unwitting investors) they need.

Thomas Lifson at The American Thinker Blog informs us today that Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, is breaking the Navy's tradition of naming its San Antonio-class amphibious transport ships after American cities so he can honor a man who was not only one of the most corrupt members of Congress of all time, but who also called our our Marines "murderers who killed women and children in cold blood."


A retired Navy Captain (SEAL) has organized a group called nomurthaship.com and is circulating a petition you can sign to register your objection to this travesty (if you don't object to it, please get off this Blog).
