Artur Davis on Switching Political Parties

From The Daily Caller today:

Formerly a Democratic congressman from Alabama, Artur Davis now identifies as a Republican.

While in Congress, Davis served on the House Ways and Means Committee and was active in the Congressional Black Caucus. In 2008, he gave a speech seconding Barack Obama’s nomination for president at the Democratic National Convention.

In 2009, he joined just 38 other House Democrats in opposing Obamacare.

Davis opted to not run for re-election in 2010 and instead ran for Alabama governor. He ultimately failed to win the Democratic primary and left Congress in 2011.

On May 29, Davis announced he was leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a Republican.
