Finally, Something to Cheer About in 2009

Last night one of the nicest guys ever to play Major League Baseball tied another of the nicest guys ever to play Major League Baseball by getting his 2,721st hit as a New York Yankee. That other nice guy is Lou Gehrig, the Iron Man of the Yankees. The story of Gehrig's life was made into a great movie: The pride of The Yankees, in 1942.

Derek Jeter exemplifies what the Nuns at St. Timothy's always drilled into us: You can judge a man by the friends he makes. Derek Jeter's best friend on the new York Yankees is Jorge Posada (another of the nicest guys ever to play Major League Baseball).
