Sundays are for Beauty - Hummel Trumpet Concerto
>
Tine Thing Helseth, the best, and prettiest, trumpet soloist in all of Norway, specializes in classical repertoire. She appeared on this Blog back in June performing the Third Movement of Franz Josef Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. To enjoy that again, go HERE.
Johann Nepomuk Hummel succeeded Haydn as Kapellmeister with the Esterházy court orchestra in Hungary, and there wrote his Trumpet Concerto In E Major, in December 1803. It was first performed on New Year's Day 1804 to mark Hummel's entrance into the Esterhazy court orchestra as Haydn's successor.
The trumpet concertos by Haydn and Hummel are arguably the best of their genre; they certainly are beautiful.
Have a Beautiful Sunday.
