MSGT Roy P. Benadivez: American Hero

MSgt Roy P. Benavidez, (August 5, 1935 – November 29, 1998), was in real life one of our Greatest American Heroes. The above video tell his amazing story, which culminated in his being awarded the Medal of Honor by President Ronald Reagan.

The USNS Benavidez, named in honor of Roy Benavidez, was launched on August 11, 2001, and was activated for Operation Enduring Freedom. The USNS Benavidez sails for the Military Sealift Command, and is manned by a crew provided by the U. S. Merchant Marine. The Master of the Benavidez is Captain Tim McKenna.
