Plato vs Hippocrates on Healthcare


Dr. C.L. Gray, writing on Big Government.Com, warns that the pending health care legislation leans closer to the medical beliefs of Plato than it does to those of Hippocrates, which is to say it would have doctors serving the state rather than their patients.

For the past 2,500 years physicians served only one of two roles in Western culture. They either followed Hippocrates and served the wellbeing of their patients, or they followed Plato and served the greater welfare of the State.
