The Right Way to Reform Health Care
That's Congressman Paul Ryan (R) Wisconsin, in a video made at the unveiling of the Patients' Choice Act in May 2009. Senator Tom Coburn (R) Oklahoma, a medical doctor, is one of the co-sponsors of the legislation. President Obama, on more than one occasion, has accused opponents of Obamacare of wanting to maintain the status quo. We should not be surprised at the falseness of that accusation.
The Patients' Choice Act has been presented in both houses of Congress, but its chances of making its way to the floor in either chamber are closer to none than slim. The Senate Bill is S.1099; the House Bill is HR. 2520.
