The Dog Drop

When a dog, for whatever reason, is dropped from the race, arrangements are made for the dog to be picked up by small plane at the check point where he was dropped off.  The dog is then flown back to race headquarters to a place behind the hotel, and cared for by Dog Drop Volunteers.  After being checked by a vet, the dog is returned to the appropriate kennel. Here's a photo of the first dog returned to the Dog Drop, on March 9th (the day after the official start), and the volunteer caring for him.
