Mushers' Banquet

Did someone ask how the starting positions are determined for each musher? Well, at the mushers' banquet (March 5th this year), each musher picks a number out of a hat, and that becomes both their Bib number and their position in the starting lineup. The video shows how husband and wife, Allen Moore and Ally Zirkle, became #6 and #24 respectively. At this point in the race (see date of post), Ally is leading Allen, and that probably will hold all the way to Nome.
