While the president is absorbed with his two major priorities: changing the greatest health care system in the world and re-igniting the flap over racial profiling, American troops are still embroiled in a nasty war in a godforsaken place called Afghanistan. The story of Spc. Channing Moss deserves to be revisited because it reminds us that there are still young Americans willing to put their lives on the line so we can live in peace here at home.

Moss is missing about two-thirds of his intestines, part of his pelvic bone and needs more repair to his left hip. A member of the staff at Walter Reed calls him “Rocket Man.” Channing Moss, who joined the Army to help give his family a better life, said he knows he’s alive because of his fellow soldiers. “I don’t think there has been a day...that I haven’t thought about them, that I haven’t prayed for them. They saved my life,” said Moss, “I knew it was love of country and brothers in arms. I hope God watches over them if they get deployed.”

Channing Moss, Dr. John Oh, SFC Daniel Brown, and all those who helped to save Moss's life back in March 2006, are true American heroes. Thank God for them. We owe them all a great debt.
