Sundays are for Beauty - Gabriel's Oboe
"Gabriel's Oboe" is one of those haunting tunes we've all heard, but can't remember where we heard it. Well, it was the theme from the score of the 1986 movie: "The Mission." Ennio Morricone, the Italian Academy Award-winning composer wrote the score. Morricone won an Honorary Academy Award, in 2007, for having written the scores for more than 500 film and television productions. He'd been nominated five times for the Academy Award for Best Music and Original Score, but never won. That's Ennio Morricone himself, in the above video, conducting the orchestra at a live concert in Munich, Germany in 2004.
If the symphony's rendition of the piece isn't beautiful enough for a Sunday (but of course it is), I'm embedding another video of "Gabriel's Oboe" as accompaniment for the beautiful figure skating of 2006 U. S. National Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen. This should embed the tune in your subconscious for at least a week.
